From September 2024 I looking forward to increasing my exercise effectiveness, and since I am big on data, I decided to buy a MyZone MZ-1. Having done one workout with it, this is my experience so far.
What is the MyZone MZ-1?
It's a belt that straps across our rib cage, relatively close to our heart.
Where did I buy it?
From FitClub Gyms in Northwood Hills, where I teach my Monday class. They are a facility that have a TV hooked up to the MyZone unit. Although I haven't tested this yet, it means that whilst I am wearing this strap, my effort is being show live to me, and all the others in the room. I expect this to be extremely motivating and also validating.
What has the MyZone revealed so far?
I had it on, but wasn't sure whether it was working, but it clearly was. As it somehow automatically synchronised with the MyZone app on my iPhone, and here is the result.
What's the plan from now?
I am especially interested in two things:
- How my class style, which is high energy, compares to other exercise types that I take part in. I already know it's 'high' up there, but I don't yet know how high. Keep following, and I will share my analysis with you on an ongoing basis. I have a hypothesis that my class is very high intensity, and this device will help me either prove, or disprove that.
- Whether I can persuade other people that join my class in Northwood Hills to also buy and strap on a MyZone MZ-1. These are purchased from the fitness centre at a good discounted rate. I can imagine each person feeling motivated to set higher targets each week, to push their body and therefore increase their fitness.
Summary
I have bouts of being out of action from exercise over the last 12 months, because of an accident in September 2023 where I broke my collarbone and developed frozen shoulder. I am about 90% healed and committed to making up for lost time. Follow my mission to persuade more people to join dance-fitness to Punjabi music, using technology as an objective method for highlighting its fitness benefits.
